Magnet
When the James Beard-nominated team from Detroit’s Takoi asked us to create the branding for their new restaurant project, they only had a few details in place: the building (a long-defunct radiator shop), the name (Magnet), and the cooking method (wood fire).
The radiator shop business had roots in Detroit since 1917, and was at this location since 1951. We took inspiration from the building’s original features, including color and custom typography found in the original logo painted above the entry. By merging these elements with nods to magnetism, we created a vibrant brand that compliments the beautiful, thoughtfully designed interior.
To quote the Design Architect, Undecorated - “Magnet is an exercise in simplicity.”
